During our weekend in Esmeraldas, Pastor Luis and Jacinta invited us to a monastery located just outside of Esmeraldas. It was my first time visiting a monastery and we had a wonderful time of prayer and reflection. We were able to share with several of the women from the church about how the Lord has refined us during our time in Ecuador.

We had an impromptu visit from some dear friends from Guayaquil who were here in Quito applying for visas to travel to Costa Rica for ministry training. They hosted us in 2014 when we were traveling through Guayaquil for mission work. That evening we were able to treat Gustavo and Myrna from Rocafuerte with an evening at the hot springs! Wow...what a treat it was for all of us!
I'm Still Learning to Bake at 10,000 Feet!
Baking here in Quito at 10,000 feet is NO JOKE! The picture above represents my umpteenth time attempting to bake! After lots of feedback from friends and fellow missionaries...I was able to successfully bake a pan of cupcakes! My Grumps would be proud! I know this sounds silly, but I am asking you to pray over my ability to bake and cook here effectively. There are many needs within the community for tasty treats...and prayers for successful baking is appreciated!
End Slavery Ministries Ecuador
We began working with the women who live at Casa Adalia back in October 2016 and we have truly grown to love each of the women who live here, the staff and the volunteers! This ministry is making a huge impact within our community! As the needs in the community grow, so do the resources. ESME has started a giving campaign to raise the necessary funds to continue to grow and meet the needs of so many women. Sports Camp in Rocafuerte, Esmeraldas
What an incredible weekend! Let me tell you...the enemy tried everything in his power to stop us from hosting this camp...so we knew God was up to something bigger! The plans for the camp changed 47 times...(almost not an exaggeration)...but we had peace about continuing to host the camp despite all the reasons we could have postponed it...and I AM SO SO SO GLAD WE DID!
From the facility being double booked, having the facility cancel our reservation, an unexpected presidential runoff, working with a completely different community than originally planned, a death in the pastor's family and possible riots over the election....we were asked on several occasions "why don't you just cancel it and reschedule it for another time..."! We prayed... a lot...and we had total peace about doing what we could! We had our precious friends from the states join us from Restore17, a sweet friend from Quito Alfredo Gonzalez Gutierrez and a precious teacher from AAI Alyssa Crim. To serve along side these sweet friends was such a blessing! We started the morning with about 30 kids and by the time we were finished with the 1st session of taekwondo training we had about 60 kids. We took a short break before walking to the park to play soccer and other games...and by the time we made it to the park we had right at 100 kids! We had a blast! After soccer and games, we walked back to the church where we enjoyed a delicious lunch. After lunch we made our way to the beach to play more soccer, frisbee and allow the kids to play in the water! We ended the afternoon with cookies and juice and a message from Alfredo about salvation. Our hearts are full and we are so thankful for all the help and support from our friends here who joined us and our friends from the states who made all of this possible!!! We love you all!! Thank you from the bottoms of our hearts!!

Where God Guides, He Provides!
So, this is important. I have debated whether or not to post this...but I feel it is my obligation to my Faithful Father to share HIS provisions.
I cannot tell you how many conversations I have had with other missionaries, pastors and friends...who think we are completely nuts and being 'naive' or 'irresponsible' because we came into the field with very little financial support. We have spent lots of time in prayer over seeking support...and we feel that we have been shown each and every time that the answer is 'not right now, not yet.' God has placed the desire to support us financially on the hearts of about 7 people (ongoing monthly support) and we are living on much less than most of you reading this...(below the Georgia poverty line)...however we have ALWAYS had EXACTLY what we needed, when we needed it. (I am also not typing this to seek pity or ask for support!) When we are working with families here who make a small fraction of what we make..it is very difficult to even have the thought that we need 'more'.
This week, while looking over our budget, I noticed a deposit that cannot be explained. I can read the deposit slip, but there's no other information that leads me to understand where this money came from. I have asked everyone who may know our account number...and they all tell me they have no clue. My husband tells me 'Sometimes we aren't suppose to know.' Y'all...we serve an amazing God and HE PROVIDES. It takes NO FAITH to do the things you have the means to do...!
Does this mean we need to ignore the ideas that God gives us? No! We believe ideas have been placed in our hearts to help so many people...and we will tell you all about that in the next few weeks! When He can trust you with little, He can trust you with a lot! Thank you, Lord, for your continuous provisions!

Child Sponsorship Opportunities Coming Soon!
We will soon be sending out information about opportunities for a Child Sponsorship Program that we are launching to help support the children of the Rocafuerte community. As we begin the program, we will have 19 children who need sponsorships. These are children in the community who the pastor believes are the most as risk. As we fill these first sponsorship needs, we will add other children little by little. Please be in prayer over the opportunity to make a huge impact on the lives of these children.

I feel really happy when people take interest in such kind of the activity. Social working is the good hobby and everyone should take part in the social activity. I appeal for the people to take part in this event and help the poor people.
