I can’t believe you would take your children to a 3rd world country to live in conditions much different than they have here! How can you do this? Why would you even consider ‘volunteering’ for 3 years? What about a 401k? Do you have a retirement plan? What will you do when all of your money runs out? What are you going to do when it’s time for you to come home and you have nothing to come home to? You are selling everything!! What do you mean ‘They are making you give your salary to the orphan care ministry?’ ” (and by the way, they aren't 'making' us do anything!)
These are questions we have gotten several times. Many folks just don’t understand…and quite honestly, we can’t expect them to. They do not have a relationship with the One who is sending us, therefore it is very hard for them to understand. Our Why is simply this. “Because Jesus said so.” One of the biggest concerns from outsiders has been for our children. We have mentioned to many people since returning from our 8 weeks in Ecuador that the decision to serve with our children was the ABSOLUTE best thing we have done for them. We were asked recently if we recommended children serving overseas…YES! YES! And another YES! Scott said it best. “For me, as an adult, it is Life Changing. For my children, it is Life Shaping.” It is actually our desire to host teams in the future comprised of families with small children! We are excited about this journey and we know His plans are greater than ours!

Well, the time has finally come...and we couldn't be more excited!!
Scott and I are excited to announce that we will be moving to Quito, Ecuador in July 2016 to serve as full-time missionaries with an orphan care ministry. This particular assignment is for 3 years and we will look to the Lord for direction as the end of our commitment. As most of you know, we have been preparing for this assignment since 2013. In 2014, our family spent 8 weeks serving throughout many regions in Ecuador and we knew that our time there was not complete. We began praying that God would open doors and show us exactly what it was that He had planned for us. After 2 years of waiting and praying diligently...He finally opened the door. We are looking forward to sharing our full testimony with all of you in the near future and how He has worked all of the details out with an intricate preciseness. We ask that you keep us in your prayers as we transition and that God would use us in BIG ways for His purpose! |
