Can you believe it? We are entering our fourth year of service in Ecuador and my, oh my, has it been a wild ride! When we initially committed to selling all of our possessions, including our business, and packing up to move to South America, we had no idea what we had committed to. As each year passes, we have become more and more confident that God has guided us, protected us and provided for us. While it has definitely been challenging, it has been a beautiful journey.
We have recently committed to an additional 2 years. This commitment comes with a different set of challenges. Scott has recently accepted the role of Assistant Elementary Principal and he will be taking on a new set of responsibilities. Brandy continues to serve in various capacities with other ministries in Quito, loving on women rescued from sex trafficking and exploitation, and managing the Child Sponsorship Program through Lead by Serving.
The kids are growing and the expenses needed to raise them have increased tremendously. As we enter this next year of ministry, we really want to be able to focus on the tasks of our ministries and not be concerned with how we will pay for doctor's bills, educational therapy, counseling services, and extra unknown expenses that are draining our account.
While we have managed to get by financially over the last 3 years, we have not had medical insurance, been able to contribute to a retirement plan or save for our kids' college (or much of anything, really). We would really like to enter into our fourth year of serving as missionaries a little more prepared than before.
For this reason, we launched Costa Sierra and are hoping to earn enough to provide for our family.
Would you partner with us by purchasing a Seeds of Hope gift pack?
Not only are you supporting our ministry and our family, but you are also supporting the beautifully, talented Ecuadorian artisans and the communities we serve!
